You hired a lawyer and when you went to court, the lawyer should have been there also when you testified. Sure you could go w/out him and testify, but if he had been there, he could advise if certain questions ok or not.
Since he dropped you, he will not talk to you, so forget about calling him.
I suggest you contact another lawyer to see if you have a winning case. It could be that the guy responsible for your scar has no assets, thus even if you get a judgment against him, if he has nothing, you get nothing.
The fact that your prior lawyer stating your stories don’t match indicates he believes you were also responsible for your injury and thus if you are, would not win. Did the prosecutor find that the other guy was responsible and either fined him or put him in jail? If he was not prosecuted and found not guilty, then the lawyer may believe you wont prevail.
Contact a 2nd lawyer to see if this is a winning case or not. If this lawyer believes it is winnable, he should sue him, if not, you maybe SOL.
good luck
You sued the wrong person. You should sue the parents of this 17 year old, as they likely have a house with liability insurance to protect the house.
Go see another lawyer and try to put a suit against the parents.
Alternately, if you are only looking for a small amount of money (less than $5,000) you could just represent yourself and sue him and his parents in small claims court.
Sure, you can sue this guy! But you’re probably not ever going to get any MONEY out of it. Because of that, you’ll have to pay your lawyer up front.
If you paid your lawyer $10,000, right now, and switched to an hourly case instead of contingency, he’d take you back.
But he doesn’t want to work for free – and he doesn’t think you’ll get any money out of this kid, even if you win. That’s why he dropped you.
